expectation

Father, forgive me.  Too often, my expectations focus only on the negative.

I fear, I doubt, I dread.

And I pray.  But are my pleas against the things I fear or for the things I know You can do?

I know how much my thoughts guide my attitude.  So shouldn’t I be watching with eager anticipation to see what You have planned?

Lord, help my expectations to be only those of eager hope in Your goodness, earnest trust in Your faithfulness.

“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
Psalm 27:13

  1. Expectations are a dangerous thing, indeed. And lately for me it’s sorta the flip of what you’ve shared here. I expect the best–but only focus on the negative when the best doesn’t happen the way I wanted it to.

But His Truth guides us both, aye?

    Blessings.
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. So right! We are facing changes in our life after having a really difficult year and it is so easy for me to just focus on what might be lurking around the corner or what else could go wrong or what test might lie ahead instead of focusing on what blessings might be in store for me. Thanks for the reminder to eagerly anticipate what He might have in store.
