…I’m doing dishes with my 11-month-old on the potty chair behind me and I turn around to see her sitting on the rug with the potty chair upside down in her lap?
…I’ve added nearly twice the amount of flour and the potato bread dough is still sticking to the mixing bowl?
…my 2-1/2-year-old tells me I need to paint my toes?
…my 2-1/2-year-old approves of the color I painted my toes?
…shoes and DVD’s and the wireless router are my 11-month-old’s favorite things to play with?
…I have to put conditioner in my 2-1/2-year-old’s hair as well as the duckies’ hair?
..my 11-month-old is chewing on something she got off the floor I just swept?
…my 2-1/2-year-old asks if we could please go to the coffee shop?
…by bedtime every single toy and pillow and blanket (and a large stack of books) is on my 2-1/2-year-old’s bed?
…toddler tales are the only thing I can put into words all week?
(No, I’m not worried. Because I’m a mommy. And this is my job. But oh how they make me laugh–and, some days, wonder: what’s a mother to do?!)

I’m laughing with you!
Awwww… thanks for sharing all the mommy moments with us, Gretchen.
I love the bits about nail polish. Isn’t it something how we girls just naturally know all about that pretty stuff? While preparing for a dance recently we older girls got out the nail polish, and within a couple minutes every little female in the vicinity down to the two-year-old was gathered ’round the table.
Hilarious and sweet!
