Monday…
Lil’ Punkin,
You’ve been a busy girl lately!
- The other morning we were kissing Daddy goodbye. And as he walked out the door, we realized the store keys that had been in his pocket were in your hands! Shall we call you Curious George?
- We were snuggling on the couch with Daddy Friday evening. He was reading to us. I was rubbing his sore leg. You were climbing all over both of us. Then all of a sudden you started rubbing Daddy’s leg just like Mommy was. You are such a sweet little Pumpkin.
- This morning Mommy was writing notes at her desk, and you wanted to help. I gave you a pen and let you draw on the envelope. You did very well. You have much better control of the pen than you did last time I tried to have you write something!
- You’ve been playing a lot with your bowl and measuring cup, but I let you have a second bowl last night, and several big spoons. You got so frustrated because the bigger bowl would not fit inside the little one. We had to keep helping you stack them properly. This morning you were making “shape soup”, stirring your shapes from your shape sorter in your bowl, with a big plastic spoon. What a big Punkin’!
- You are sleeping so well at night…when we finally get you to bed. You go potty right before your bath, then we have a bottle and sing and go night night. But you cry and can’t go night night because you have to go potty again. You get done going potty and are hungry again. After chugging the second five ounces of the night, you have to go potty again. Your parents are exhausted by the time we finally get you to bed! Your daddy had a long talk with you about telling us you had to go potty, not just crying about it. So you fell asleep making grunting noises and saying “ahh eee.”
- I found you chewing on pieces of bark last night. They must feel good on your teeth?
- Your high chair is now your jungle gym. You end up on your back under it, doing pull ups. Then your arms give out and you call for help before your head crashes to the cement floor.
- When Mommy calls to Daddy out the window, you want to, too. You spend the next minute trying to climb up the desk chair by the window, while I try to explain to you that Daddy’s not out the window any more, he’s coming inside at the other end of the house! You love your daddy so much.
- This morning we took Daddy over to Papa and Nanna’s so he could go to work with Papa. When you and I got home, I gave you my insulated tea cup that had been left in the car from yesterday. By the time we got inside and I turned to take it from you, you had tea dribbled all down your coat, and you were smacking your lips! Sure enough, you’d been drinking Mommy’s very cold Chai (I had no idea any was left!), and were quite sad when I took it away. (Your grandma was right. The lid doesn’t stay on that mug very well.)
- You’ve become quite the snuggler. Not only do you snuggle with Daddy and Mommy and your raggy rag, you snuggle with your board books, your rubber ducky during your bath, and anything else you happen to feel like snuggling with. Mommy and Daddy like your snuggly moods.
- You’ve also discovered where Mommy stores her kitchen tools that she sometimes lets you play with. It’s no longer enough to just have a plastic spoon and bowls, you reach for more wooden spoons whenever you happen to notice the canister holding my spoons. Apparently you can cook better with two bowls, a plastic spoon, and two wooden spoons!
We love you, Punkin’. Thanks for making us smile!
Love,
your mommy
